Kinda sad that it wasn't any happy ending afterall, since the only woman he loved was dead while defending herself from german soldiers who wanted to rape her. But she left him baby antoinette, which was the result of what they did during that night in april, in bed. The very last night they could see each other once more.

Sighhhhhhhhhh but i still dont understand how was it possible for him to accept that she was gone and never back anymore?
